Show Results

To build a business and market it, other breeders and the public have to know who you are, what you breed and the quality of stock in your herd. Showing is the best way to do this, and is also a great way to measure your breeding goals against other breeders, and get the various judges' opinions of your animals. The social aspect is the best part of it, mixng with other like minded people and gathering information from other breeders. Of course, if you pick up a ribbon along the way, it is a great feeling.

2011 National Alpaca Show Success

We took our three Intermediate girls, Juanita (white), Jorja ET (light fawn) and Josefina (dark fawn) to be judged by Ron Reid and Rick Hodgkins. Juanita was pulled forward and came 4th, while Jorja claimed a 3rd ribbon, with Josefina being awarded a 2nd, in their respective classes. Our best result was from our fleeces with our little Jolimont boy taking the blue ribbon in the Junior White section and then taking the Championship(from 57 fleeces)! Sunline Jade, from one of our earliest females, and sired by Grindon Juggernaut, also brought us success with a first place in the white section, then coming home with the Intermediate Championship. What a thrill, considering the competition - biggest number of fleeces ever entered at the Nationals.

Sunline Josefina - 2011 Gold Coast Show Supreme Champion

Our two intermediate girls were lucky again to take out Champion (Josefina) and Reserve Champion (Juanita) under Judge Chris Williams, with Josefina eventually taking out the Supreme award. Nathaniel, now in the Adult section, took the Championship this time with Ignite taking Reserve. Galaxy took a creditable 2nd place and then Reserve Champion in the Senior Male section, before heading to his new home to begin stud work.

Queensland Royal - 4 Sunline Champions

Another good show against the best in Queensland resulted in all our five animals entered taking out a blue ribbon. Josefina took the Intermediate Female with Juanita as the Reserve, while Nathaniel, our Windsong Valley boy, took out the Intermediate Male. Ignite then went on to take the Adult Male, while Galaxy won the Senior Male. Judge Ron Reid made the hard decision between Josefina and the Junior Male, eventually giving the Supreme Award to Karawill Fagan, from the New England area - congratulations!

Sunline Ignite - Supreme at Sunshine Coast Show 2011

Another good showing at the Sunshine Coast Show, held at Gympie this year under Judge Angela Preuss with four animals in attendance. Our two girls are now in the same age group with Juanita taking the Championship in the Intermediates, with Josefina as Reserve. Ignite took out the Adult Male Championship while our new male, Jolimont Nathaniel, took out the Intermediate Champion's spot. Ignite (from El Zorro) then took the Supreme award!

Sunline Juanita - Supreme at Gympie 2011

We had a great show at Gympie this year under Judge, Rick Hodgkins with Juanita, Josefina, Ignite and Galaxy all taking out Championships. Jarvis and Julie Creek also did well, both taking the Reserve in their age groups. It was a thrill to see our Junior Female, Juanita (daughter of Elegance who herself was a Supreme winner at Gympie in the past) take the Supreme award from the final lineup!

Sunline take on the Sydney Show

After some success in Queensland shows, we took a few of our youngsters to compete in the Sydney Royal, under Judges Jenny Jackson, and Kate Mander from New Zealand. Sunline Juanita took out a second in the Junior White Female, and Sunline Josefina took out the blue ribbon, from a group of well credentialled females. Our older boys, Ignite and Galaxy, also picked up blue ribbons with Ignite (a son of El Zorro) taking our the Supreme White after stiff competition from Juanita.

Sunline Juniors stake big claims at Toowoomba Royal 2011

Judge Lynn Dickson loved the fineness of our junior contingent this year awarding the Champion ribbon to Sunline 'Josefina' and reserve Chamion ribbons to both Sunline 'Juanita' in the female section and Sunline 'Jarvis'in the male section. All of these youngsters are from Sunline bred females. This fine result is on top of the Reserve Champion fleece awarded to Sunline Galaxy's third fleece. Galaxy was the Qld Alpaca of the year winner in 2009. He is still holding a great fleece as he also took the blue ribbon in the Senior male section.

Maitake progeny shine at Gympie 2010

Maitake progeny Sunline Imran took Junior male Champion and Nataginni Saki took out Intermediate female Champion then followed up by teaming up for a creditable second ribbon in the prestigious Sires Progeny. The pair by Sunline El Zorro, Sunline Illaria and Buhi Hills Rocket took the third ribbon in the Sires progeny.

At the recent Brisbane Royal - 'the EKKA' Sunline Galaxy was awarded the Champion Senior Male and went on to take out the title of 'Qld ALPACA of the YEAR' - 2009. His consistant showing before various judges through out this year ensured him of this prestigious award. This follows on from Sunline Elegance taking out this award last year and Sunline Elvis taking it out in 2006. A great indication of the quality of results that the successful Sunline Alpaca Stud's breeding programme now enjoys.
